About this apprenticeship
Develop capabilities in recognising complex needs, manage risk and agree appropriate interventions or referrals. Apprentices will work alongside families, carers, professionals and partner organisations to create positive, sustainable change.
Learners choose a specialist pathway in children’s residential care or community practice, applying evidence-based approaches to help children, young people and families stay safe, overcome barriers and reach their potential.

Learning and development outcomes:
Apprentices will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to:
- Assess complex needs and risks.
- Promote safeguarding and wellbeing.
- Ensure individual voices are heard.
- Plan and evaluate interventions.

- Work effectively with families and professionals.
- Make informed professional decisions.

The programme is aligned with the national Children, Young People and Families Practitioner apprenticeship standard and includes a residential care or community pathway.

- Blended delivery combining workplace learning and online sessions.
- Regular employer, learner and tutor reviews.

What you achieve
Upon successful completion, learners will achieve the Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Apprenticeship.

Your progression pathway
After successful completion of the Level 4 apprenticeship, you can progress onto the Level 5 Children, Young People and Families Manager apprenticeship and senior practitioner and team leadership roles.
