Apprenticeships combine hands-on work experience with structured learning and coaching to build the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed for the role.
Off-the-job training refers to learning that takes place outside of an apprentice’s normal day-to-day job tasks, but still contributes directly to their apprenticeship. It must be planned, relevant, and support steady progress towards end-point assessment.
There is no longer a fixed percentage requirement. Instead, employers and training providers must ensure apprentices have sufficient time for structured learning throughout their programme.
This may include activities such as training sessions, coaching, shadowing, online learning, and time for reflection and development.
We work closely with both employers and apprentices to plan this learning in a way that is structured, purposeful, and aligned to the workplace. This ensures apprentices gain the right skills and knowledge while maintaining a positive balance with their job role.
