Information Communication Technician

Our Information Communication Technician (ICT) Apprenticeship equips the learner with the core skills, knowledge and behaviours to be able to deliver efficient operation and control of IT, or Telecommunications infrastructure both on and off premises and end user provision. Typically an Information Communication Technician works as part of an IT Support/Helpdesk Team or Network/Communication’s Maintenance team that may offer a varied range of support services, including:

  • 1st or 2nd Line Support
  • Office IT technician
  • Cloud Technician
  • Security Support
  • Maintenance Technician
  • Network Field Operative
  • Network Support

Apprentices take mandatory units in core duties:

  • Providing Technical Support to Internal and External Customers
  • ICT Faults and Troubleshooting Methods
  • Applying Security Policies
  • Testing and Supporting Hardware
  • Software and Cabling
  • Interpreting Technical Specifications and Escalation

They will also choose 1 of 3 pathways that most closely aligns with their job role:

  • Support Technician Pathway
  • Network Technician Pathway
  • Digital Communications Technician Pathway

Level 3 Information Communication Technician is designed for those starting their career in IT, Network and Communications Support or existing staff looking to develop their skills.
