WDF Funding

eTraining can help you gain access to the Workforce Development Fund (WDF) which is additional funding from the Department of Health and managed by Skills for Care.

This fund is specifically for improving Adult Social Care across England by helping to cover costs associated with training so that the existing workforce can be developed and new staff can be recruited and trained.

The WDF funding is equivalent to £15 per QCF credit, with a maximum of 60 credits per learner per funding year. What you can claim back will be dependent on the qualification taken, the units selected and how many credits over all will be completed.

As an example:

Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (minimum 70 credits) – up to £1050

WDF is a contribution towards the associated cost of completing vocational training in Adult Social Care. This funding allows employers to claim from more than one source, for example the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) or the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

WDF can be used for the following:

  • Course fees
  • Employees’ salaries
  • Backfill if required (i.e. wage replacement costs to allow for training time)
  • 20% off the job training time

WDF cannot be used for the following:

  • To recover course cost that have been paid by a levy account
  • To recover costs already funded by another agency
